The Job Role
To ensure all vehicles meet Company and Customer quality standards before release by carrying out inspections, recording results, and supporting the smooth flow of vehicle processing.
Perform final interior and exterior inspections, checking for defects such as scratches, paint chips, dents, and panel misalignment.
Carry out mechanical and safety checks including fluid levels, tyre pressures, suspension condition, and brake functionality.
Conduct test drives to assess drivability, identify unusual noises, and detect engine or transmission concerns.
Record all inspection findings accurately and complete required compliance and quality documents.
Report faults or defects to PDI technicians or management for corrective action.
Ensure all accessories (e.g., number plates, mats, manuals, keys) are fitted and meet OEM standards before vehicle release.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail to identify minor faults.
Use technical knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic indicators to support inspections.
Move and test vehicles safely, requiring a valid UK driving licence.
Apply previous experience in quality control, inspection, or automotive technician work to uphold high standards.
What do you need to be a successful Vehicle Quality Controller
Exceptional attention to detail. Able to spot small defects or inconsistencies that others may miss.
Strong organisational skills. Able to manage inspections, paperwork, and workflow efficiently.
Good technical understanding of vehicles including basic mechanical knowledge, safety systems, and diagnostic indicators.
Confidence in performing thorough inspections, interior, exterior, mechanical, and safety‑related.
Ability to follow strict procedures working to OEM, customer, and company quality standards.
Clear communication skills, able to report defects accurately and work effectively with PDI technicians and management.
Problem‑solving mindset able to identify issues and understand what corrective action is needed.
Professionalism and reliability ensuring vehicles are checked to a high standard every time.
Valid UK driving licence essential for moving and test‑driving vehicles safely.
Experience in QC or automotive roles previous experience in inspection, PDI, or technician work is highly beneficial.S93
