Automotive Apprenticeship Assessor
Location: Covering MOD sites across the South and South West
Salary: £40,000 + £4,450 car allowance + benefits
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
The Role
A strong opportunity for an experienced Automotive Apprenticeship Assessor to support both Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle apprentices across MOD sites, working on military contracts.
Candidates must already be qualified assessors with experience assessing apprentices in the workplace. This position is not suitable for industry-only candidates or those looking to move into assessment for the first time.
You will be responsible for assessing competence, supporting learner progress, and ensuring apprenticeship delivery meets awarding body, ESFA and MOD standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular on-site workplace assessments across MOD bases
Assess apprentices working in Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle maintenance and repair
Carry out progress reviews, observations and portfolio assessments
Guide apprentices through their apprenticeship standards and assessment criteria
Provide structured feedback and development support to drive timely achievement
Ensure full compliance with awarding body, Ofsted and ESFA requirements
Support learners in preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA)
Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation
Work closely with MOD personnel and employer teams to align delivery with military contract requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as an Automotive Apprenticeship Assessor
Strong background across Light Vehicle and/or Heavy Vehicle maintenance
Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle / Automotive / Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
Recognised assessor qualification (CAVA, TAQA, A1 or equivalent) - essential
Experience assessing apprentices against apprenticeship standards
Ability to travel between MOD sites (overnight stays occasionally required – fully funded)
Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
Experience working within MOD, defence or military environments
Knowledge of military vehicle standards or contract-led training delivery
Teaching or training qualification (AET / PTLLS or equivalent)
Prior experience as a Coach, Tutor, Trainer, Instructor or Lecturer
