General Maintenance Operative
Permanent | Full Time (36 hours per week)
A large and complex estate is seeking a skilled General Maintenance Operative to join a busy in-house reactive maintenance team supporting a diverse portfolio of academic, residential and commercial buildings.
This is a hands-on role requiring a broad trade background, strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently while responding to reactive maintenance requests and planned works across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out reactive and planned building maintenance across occupied buildings
General building works including basic plumbing, carpentry, minor roofing, drainage and fabric repairs
Fault finding and repairs to building fabric and services
Supporting emergency and out-of-hours call-outs as part of a rota
Completing PPM tasks and maintaining accurate records via a CAFM system
Working safely in line with health & safety, asbestos and permit-to-work procedures
Liaising professionally with building users and stakeholders
About You
Time-served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade
Proven experience in general building maintenance or multi-trade roles
Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
Comfortable working independently and across multiple sites
Customer-focused with good communication skills
Full UK driving licence
