Accountancy Assistant
Location: Hereford (Hybrid working)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £26,550 – £33,355 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Fixed-term until 31 July 2026

Our client, a leading public sector organisation, is hiring an Accountancy Assistant to join their Management Accountants team. This role plays a key part in delivering accurate, timely financial information to support service delivery and effective decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance experience who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, providing insight, challenge, and practical financial solutions. The role offers variety, exposure across services, and genuine opportunities to learn and develop within a supportive finance team.
What you’ll do
Support the preparation and delivery of accurate financial information
Work closely with budget managers to support effective financial management
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring activities
Provide financial data, analysis, and commentary to support decision-making
Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
You’ll work collaboratively with management accountants and wider service teams to help build a strong, efficient, and trusted finance function.
What we’re looking for
Previous experience working in a finance or accounts environment
AAT qualified, or currently in the final year of AAT studies
Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail
Confidence working with financial data and systems
The ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-focused, and enjoy working in a collaborative, service-driven environment
