Yard Person / Delivery Driver
We are currently looking for a reliable and hands-on Yard Person / Delivery Driver to join our team at near Burgess Hill. This is a varied and practical role, combining yard duties, manual labour, and driving, offering an excellent opportunity to be a key part of our operations.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will help maintain the depot’s presentation, support the delivery and collection of machinery and parts, and ensure smooth day-to-day yard operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment and tie-down methods (training provided).
Drive a variety of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver goods efficiently and on time.
Perform vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to meet safety standards.
Assist the stores team with stock relocation from goods-in areas to containers.
Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records of trips and deliveries.
Undertake basic assembly tasks.
Support customers with purchases or repairs of horticultural machinery, providing a friendly and professional service.
Follow all health and safety protocols during transportation and handling of machinery.
Perform additional yard duties as required, including painting, sweeping, and drain clearance.Requirements:
Full UK driving licence (clean or minimal points preferred).
Experience towing trailers (licence entitlement preferred).
Previous experience in a delivery, driving, or yard-based role.
Knowledge of safe loading/unloading and securing machinery.
Physically fit and capable of manual labour tasks.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including early starts or late finishes for longer trips.
Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or construction (desirable).
Forklift licence or other relevant qualifications (desirable).
Good knowledge of East & West Sussex geography (desirable).Additional Information:
Start Date: Immediate (subject to recruitment process).
Hours: 39 hours per week. Overtime paid at time and a half.
Contract: Full-time, permanent, hourly paid
