Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer
Location: Crawley
Type: Full Time | Permanent
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm or 9:00am–5:30pm
The Opportunity
Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering/manufacturing business for an Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer to join their Purchasing Department.
This role would suit someone with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who is looking to develop their career within procurement. You will work as part of a small, supportive team, helping to secure the timely and cost-effective supply of parts and materials.
Key Responsibilities

Raise, place, and chase purchase orders in line with business requirements

Monitor stock levels and place orders when inventory is low

Track outstanding orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery

Assist with internal budget control and cost monitoring

Support supplier price negotiations and cost price management

Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation

Communicate effectively with internal departments to support production and operational needs

Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience with cost price negotiation or supplier price discussions

Strong communication and listening skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
