Our client is recruiting for four operatives to join their Worcester based orgnanisation. Working as part of a small team (usually 3), the position involves completing soft and hard landscaping projects and grounds maintenance, under the supervision of a Team Leader or Senior Landscape Operative.
Operatives meet at the Company’s yard in Worcester at around 6am to load materials before driving to sites to complete issued works. The majority of sites are within 2 hours of Worcester. Occasionally some jobs will be further than this, with jobs of this nature Operatives stay away during the works in accommodation provided by the Company. This may be for 1 night for small jobs or several weeks for larger jobs, returning home at each weekend. Driving is shared equally between operatives.
Operatives are expected to represent the Company to the best of their ability at all times and complete work to the high standards the Company expects.
Working as part of a team, reporting to either the Team Leader or Senior Landscape Operative. Operatives are expected to use Company equipment correctly and safely.
MAIN DUTIES
Soft Landscaping
· Ground preparation, planting trees and shrubs and bark mulching.
· Laying turf & sowing grass seed.
· Following landscape designs and written instructions.
· Haul and spread topsoil and aggregates.
Fencing & Hard Landscaping
· Installation of minor hard landscaping works, including placing rocks, laying slabs, installing sleepers, spreading aggregates.
· Erecting timber and metal fencing & gates.
· Installing water butts & washing lines.
Grounds Maintenance
· Litter collection
· Mowing, strimming and applying herbicide.
· Prune and trim trees, shrubs and hedges.
· Water newly laid turf, trees and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses or watering cans.
Hours of work
Work pattern is Monday to Friday, usually with a start time of 6am in the yard in Worcester, working 9 hours per day on average (includes travelling time). Saturday work is occasionally available at an agreed flat rate of £150 per day, paid in addition to salary via the payroll.
Uniform
It is a condition of employment with the Company that Operatives wear a uniform at all times during working hours this includes working in the yard and travelling to and from sites. The Company supplies full uniform and PPE at no expense to the operative.
Salary
Starting salary is £29,750 per annum plus annual bonus. This is a guaranteed stable income, equal payments made on a monthly basis. For those who excel in the role there is opportunity for promotion within the Company to Senior Operative and Team Leader positions.

Annual leave
Our holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Annual holiday entitlement is 21 days, with an additional eight bank holidays. Holiday entitlement increases with length of service.
Employees are required to reserve up to four days of their annual holiday entitlement to cover the shutdown period between Christmas Eve and New Year.
Professional registration
It is a condition of your ongoing employment that you have and maintain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card as it is a requirement for working on the majority of our client sites.
If on commencement of employment, you do not have a CSCS Card you will be required to attend and pass the relevant touch screen test, arranged by and paid for by the Company.
Driving licence
A clean/nearly clean driving licence is required preferably with the ability to tow
