Temporary Production & Glazing Operative
– B11 Area, Birmingham
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am - 4:30pm / Friday 7:30-13:30
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Pertemps is looking for a Production & Glazing Operative, manufacturing company established in 1979, specialising in high-quality canal boat windows. Manufacture bespoke aluminium windows and also offer installation services to private boat owners.
The Role
Seeking a reliable and flexible temporary team member to join our production and glazing team. This role is to cover a period of long-term sickness for an existing employee.
The position is offered on a temporary basis, however there is potential for the role to become permanent, depending on business requirements and the long-term situation.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, pays close attention to detail, and is happy to support multiple areas within a small, busy team.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Making and assembling double glazed units to order specification (experience desirable).
Washing, handling, and quality checking glass, including shaped units.
Following detailed works orders, including sizes, descriptions, and special customer requirements.
Unpacking, checking, and correctly storing order-specific parts and stock.
Wrapping, packing, and preparing completed orders using picking lists.
Carrying out daily visual quality inspections of incoming parts and outsourced products.
Maintaining a quality log and reporting observations to managers and key personnel.
Keeping production, glazing, and stock areas clean, tidy, and well organised.
Driving a company van to local suppliers to collect materials and delivering completed customer orders.
Adhering to all company procedures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe working environment.Main Duties & Responsibilities

Good communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
Fluent English speaking and writing skills are essential.
Uses common sense and initiative.
Honest, dependable, and eager to learn and develop new skills.
Full UK driving licence essential.Experience
Experience in manufacturing or production is desirable but not essential.
Experience working with glass, glazing, or quality control is desirable but not essential.
Double glazed unit making experience is desirable.
Applicants from carpentry or other hands-on trade backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
