Learning Support Assistant | Derby (DE1) | £100-£115 per day | Long-Term Role | Starting 26th January 2026
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Derby (DE1). This role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Geography, and other core curriculum areas. This is a full-time, term-time only position, Monday to Friday, 8.30 - 15.30 with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the SENCO and Cover Supervisor to support students with a range of additional learning needs
Provide 1:1 and small group support across multiple subjects, including Maths, English, Geography, and more
Support students to access the curriculum by adapting resources and learning strategies where required
Encourage engagement, focus, and positive behaviour within the classroom
Assist students with coursework, organisation, and differentiation to help them reach their full potential
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Monitor student progress and feedback to teaching staff and the SEN team to adapt support strategiesWho We're Looking For:
Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
Experience working with SEN students, ideally within a secondary school setting
A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
Confidence supporting learning across multiple subjects
Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
