Ward Administrator

6-Month Fixed Term Contract | £13.11 – £13.98 per hour
We are recruiting a Ward Administrator to support ward teams across Ashford and Canterbury on a 6-month fixed term contract. This is a key administrative role within a healthcare setting, supporting clinical and management teams to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the wards and an excellent experience for patients.
About the Role
You will provide high-quality clerical and administrative support within the ward environment, working closely with nurses, consultants, managers and support services. The role plays a vital part in patient admissions and discharges, maintaining accurate medical records, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to ward management, clinical and nursing teams

Accurately record patient admissions, discharges and treatment information on hospital systems

Prepare, organise, scan and maintain patient notes and documentation

Liaise with clinical, finance, bookings, reception and external colleagues to support smooth hospital operations

Prepare admission packs and ensure patient notes are available prior to admission

Assist with bed planning, rotas, stock ordering and ward supplies

Answer telephone and email enquiries professionally, showing tact, empathy and discretion

Support audits, reports, inspections and quality accreditations

Assist with general administrative duties to support the efficient running of the ward
What We’re Looking For
Essential:

Experience working in a busy administrative role, ideally within a healthcare environment

Excellent organisational, communication and customer service skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Understanding of patient confidentiality and information governance

Professional and confident telephone manner

Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team

Ability to travel between Ashford and Canterbury sites

Right to work in the UK
Desirable:

Previous experience in a ward administrator or similar healthcare role

Experience using healthcare systems

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Experience with rotas, audits or stock takes
