Quokka Education is supporting a Top 10 secondary school in Winchester, and they’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant to start Monday 5th January.
No classroom experience? Not a problem. We offer training, experience days, and ongoing support so you feel confident from day one.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who are calm, caring and genuinely enjoy supporting young people. You might be:
• Someone with experience in youth work, support work or care
• A sports coach who connects well with young people
• A graduate exploring a future in teaching
• Or simply someone patient, reliable and good with people
If you can build trust, stay steady under pressure, and show kindness when it matters most, you’ll do well in this role.
What your first 12 weeks look like
Weeks 1–4: Settle & Learn
• Shadow lessons and learn the routines
• Support individuals and small groups
• Get to know the students and their needs
Weeks 5–8: Grow & Contribute
• Take on more responsibility with 1:1 support
• Build strong relationships with staff
• Help with behaviour and emotional regulation
Weeks 9–12: Make an Impact
• Lead targeted interventions
• Become a trusted, steady presence
• Bring ideas to remove barriers to learning
