Key ResponsibilitiesLead EstimatesUndertake estimates in accordance with Company procedures.Lead team of estimators for larger tenders, mentoring and developing junior estimatorsIdentify opportunities and risks during the tender process.Liaise with the business unit, Bid Manager and Planner to agree on methodology and principles.Maintain a register of key assumptions within the estimateMaintain tender estimate file.Provide indicative pricing support for business development.Obtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs.Present estimates at adjudicationPrepare an estimating "adjudication pack.”Present basis of estimate and key assumptionsMaintain notes of adjudication meetingsClose out actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as required.Handover to site teams at contract awardPrepare estimating handover packs.Maintain notes of the handover meetingProvide ongoing support to site teams relating to the estimate and key assumptions.Key Measures and TargetsWinning work to meet the Company’s objectives.Developing a coherent and consistent tender submission with the use of key estimating assumptionsDeveloping a tender win strategy alongside the business unit teamsSupporting temporary works for tenders and for the design element of design and construct tendersEssentialEngineering or commercial backgroundHNC or equivalent in a related Engineering qualificationExperience in water and civilsProven track record working on tenders ranging up to 50mNumerate and IT literate, familiar with estimating software and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft ExcelChartered, incorporated status or similarConfidence in dealing with customers and personnel within Barhale at a senior level.DesireableKnowledge of wastewater, rail, or the tunnelling sectorCaring and investing in youOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
