Job Title: Steel Operative

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm
Pay: £13.19 per hour (increasing to £14.35 upon permanent employment, then progressing onto a structured salary pathway)
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Recruitment Pro is recruiting Steel Operatives to join a well-established steel processing site based in Newark. This role offers long-term stability, excellent training opportunities and a clear salary progression structure once permanent. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling steel arriving from the docks, cutting materials using saws and preparing orders for dispatch. This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone who enjoys practical work and learning new skills.
Key Responsibilities

Unloading and handling steel delivered from the docks

Picking parts ready for dispatch

Cutting steel to required sizes using industrial saws

Using an overhead crane

Preparing and organising materials for outgoing shipments

Loading shipments

Working safely and following all site procedures

Maintaining a clean and organised working area

Supporting any additional warehouse or yard duties as required
Requirements

Driving licence essential (due to the location of the site)

Previous experience in a labouring, warehouse, factory or steel/metalwork environment is desirable but not essential

Experience using OHC

Willingness to learn and skill up on cutting equipment

Good level of physical fitness

Reliable, hard-working and able to work as part of a team
