The Opportunity
A leading rail services provider in the rolling stock sector requires a highly organised and technically minded Technical Administrator to join their Engineering department. This role is crucial for supporting project mobilisation, contract bids, and ongoing operations by managing technical documentation and materials data. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual, particularly a recent graduate, looking to build a career foundation in rail engineering with clear pathways for future progression.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical and administrative support to all engineering teams across various projects.
Manage the creation of estimated Bills of Materials (BoMs) for new project bids and subsequent mobilisation.
Control and update essential technical documentation for all projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Assist in setting up work structures and managing parts in the SAP system for business-as-usual (BAU) requirements.
Work with production teams to document methods of work, write detailed work instructions, and help identify cost reduction opportunities.
Create and manage KPI trackers, carrying out data analysis and reporting for the Head of Technical Services.
The Candidate:
You must possess strong attention to detail, a foundational technical understanding, and be capable of managing multiple priorities calmly under pressure. An HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline is required. Experience managing BoMs, handling technical documentation, or using a system like SAP is highly advantageous. This role is ideal for a candidate eager to learn and progress into roles like Production or Project Engineering.
