APT Education is recruiting a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Birmingham primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), non‑verbal communication, EAL (English as an Additional Language), and challenging behaviour.
🔑 Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ADHD, ASC, SEMH, and complex behavioural needs

Implement behaviour management strategies that promote positive engagement and emotional regulation

Support pupils with communication difficulties, including non‑verbal learners and those with EAL needs
-
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to adapt lessons and track pupil progress
-
Assist with personal care routines where required, ensuring dignity and safeguarding at all times

Champion inclusion and resilience, helping pupils build confidence and independence
👤 Candidate Requirements

Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential

GCSEs in English and Maths are essential

Proven experience supporting pupils with ADHD, ASC, SEMH, and complex SEN needs

Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and de‑escalation techniques

Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to working with primary‑age pupils
-
Enhanced DBS and references (APT Education will support with compliance)
