Teach Now is delighted to be recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a wonderful, high-achieving primary school in Barnet. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and capable Teaching Assistant who can confidently support learning in Year 6, particularly in literacy and maths.
About the Role
You will be working in a high-needs Year 6 class, supporting pupils with a range of learning needs, including four with EHCPs. Your responsibilities will include:
• Working 1:1 and in small groups to support literacy, maths and core curriculum learning
• Assisting pupils with EHCPs to meet personalised targets
• Helping prepare learning materials and resources
• Supporting the class teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment
• Encouraging independence, confidence and resilience in pupils
This role is perfect for someone who is academically strong, especially in upper-KS2 literacy and numeracy, and who enjoys helping pupils reach their full potential.
About the School
This is a busy, friendly and vibrant primary school, set within extensive, beautiful grounds and its own Nature Reserve—a truly inspiring environment for both pupils and staff. The school community prides itself on being nurturing, inclusive and ambitious. Staff, children, governors and families work closely together to create a safe space where every child can flourish as a confident, independent learner.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong subject knowledge in Year 6 literacy and maths
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs
• A calm, proactive and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s development
