Lead Safety Engineer About the job: Kent is looking for a Lead Safety Engineer who will be responsible for coordinating the production of engineering deliverables and providing progress reporting for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically, works as a Lead Safety engineer reporting to the project engineering manager on a feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC project. Undertakes specified tasks / areas of work dependent on size and complexity of project, as defined by the lead engineer or project / project engineering manager. Supervising and checking the work of other engineers as delegated by the project engineering manager / group manager. Responsible for communicating technical / project issues potentially impacting the project to the project engineering manager.The Lead Safety Engineer is typically accountable to the Project Engineering Manager depending on the size and complexity of the Project. The corporate reporting line is to the respective Departmental / Group Manager. We operate a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days home working, for our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering. Skills & Responsibilities: Lead and oversee safety engineering activities across FEED and Detail Design projects. Supports the preparation of the Process Safety TDR and executes allocated tasks within the requirements of the project execution plan and TDR. Identifying and resolving discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract Responsible for project schedule and manpower budget Prepare monthly/weekly progress report Support the proposal team in the bidding process Ensures compliance with Kent’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards. Prepare and provide expert guidance on process safety, fire safety, and risk management to other engineering disciplines Review and approve deliverables prepared by other Process Safety Engineers Being accountable for the quality of Process Safety deliverables Supporting and supervising task delegation to the team Review inter-discipline engineering (IDC) documents Participating in audits and incident investigations as required Ensure that all project Health, Safety and Environmental policies are complied with Ensure that design meets all Process Safety requirements and maintains risks to as low as reasonably practicable Achieving project completion to the project specifications on schedule Provide process safety manhours and schedule inputs to the proposal manager Facilitating and participating in project HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies, and other safety workshops as required, along with experience in coordinating HAZOP, HAZID, SIL classification studies, and other HSE workshops. Able to prepare and review safety studies reports such as FERA, QRA, ESSA, RAM etc. Coordinate with other Kent offices to manage process safety and loss prevention deliverables Management of external HSE consultants in executing engineering delivery and HSE workshops. Preparing tender bid evaluations and assessing bids for procured fire and safety equipment; participating in vendor meetings. Able to review 3rd party HSE studies such as QRA, FERA, EERA, etc., as required Able to do safety studies calculations using PHAST, Flaresim, FRED etc as required Experience in fire protection and engineering design, including the review and preparation of Fire Water P&IDs, Fire Water demand calculations, passive fire protection studies and drawings, as well as the preparation of fire and gas detection layouts, safety equipment layouts, and safety signage, among others. Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Expert knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up Responsible for personal training and development in consultation with the Process group manager. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.
