A new Senior Textile & Homeware Designer job is now available with a long-standing and award-winning interior design practice based in London. The practice is a top 100 House & Garden design firm focused primarily on residential interiors. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced surface pattern designer with a strong creative vision, exceptional technical skills, and a deep understanding of the interiors and homeware markets.
Established for over 45 years, our client has a world-renowned sense of style that appeals to both a contemporary and traditional market. Having built a globally recognised brand, including internationally distributed fabric and wallpaper collections and an exclusive range of furniture, tableware, and decorative accessories, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Textile & Homeware Designer to join their team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the design process from concept to production and take ownership of the creative direction for specific collaborations, ensuring alignment with the brand's aesthetic while introducing fresh, innovative ideas.
Role & Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Head of Design
- Designing and developing fabrics, wallpapers, and homeware products
- Assisting in providing creative direction for collaborations with other brands
- Creating original designs and patterns with exceptional drawing, colouring, and composition skills, adaptable to various mediums and styles
- Ensuring all designs meet production standards, including correct repeats, scaling, and composition for textiles, wallpapers, and accessories
- Conducting trend research and applying market insights to create designs that resonate with both existing clientele and new audiences
- Collaborating with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to oversee the transition from concept to final product
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met
- Communicating effectively with team members and external partners
- Traveling as required for supplier visits, industry events, and market research
- Using Photoshop and AVA software to develop and finalise designs.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years' experience in a similar role within the interior design, textiles, or homeware industries
- A strong portfolio showcasing innovative and commercially viable designs for textiles, wallpapers, and homeware, including hand-drawn and painted work
- Exceptional drawing, painting, and colouring skills with the ability to create original artwork in a variety of traditional and digital mediums
- Strong awareness of interior design, homeware, and fashion trends
- Ability to independently manage the end-to-end design process while juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to design
- Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail in both creative and technical aspects of design
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop essential), AVA, and knowledge of repeat design and pattern development.
