Role: Management and Cost Accountant
This role, as part of the Shared Services team, encompasses managing the financial accounting functions for three manufacturing/production entities, as well as overseeing cost accounting processes. Key responsibilities include handling Bills of Materials (BOMs), inventory management, work-in-progress (WIPs), and raw material planning. The position is based on-site in Cape Town, while the entities are located in Germany. Please note only candidates with production or manufacturing accounting experience will be considered.
Duties: - Preparing appropriate, accurate, timely and relevant Management Accounts
- Reviewing and analysis
- Adapt and improve management reports
- Balance sheet and income statement reconciliation tasks, journal postings, monthly accruals, and provisions;
- Prepare the general ledger asset accounting functions;
- Participation in the Companys year-end process and production of the Annual Financial Statements
- Liaising with the auditors as required
Budgets and Planning - Assist in providing support and advice to the Group in preparing forecasts and budgets within the prescribed timelines;
- Engage with management of subsidiaries on performance against budget, provide financial advice on budget control and forecast outcomes

Cost Accounting - Bills of Materials (BOM):
- A detailed breakdown of all materials, components, and assemblies required to produce a finished product.
- Essential for cost estimation, production planning, and tracking material usage.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitoring and controlling raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to minimize holding costs and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Raw Material Planning:
- Forecasting and managing the procurement of raw materials to ensure production continuity while optimizing costs.
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Accounting:
- Tracking and valuing partially completed goods in the production process.
- Includes labor, materials, and overhead costs allocated to WIP to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyzing variances between actual and standard costs to identify inefficiencies or deviations.
- Generating reports for decision-making, including cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margins, and profitability analysis.
General - Develop and implement processes and perform tasks to ensure overall tax compliance of the Group;
- Managing daily banking and cash requirements for the Group.
Essential requirements: - 3 - 5 years accounting experience in a busy, progressive manufacturing / production environment with a focus on Management Accounting including Cost Accounting
- Previous experience in handling international accounting preferably in a shared services environment;
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Highly proficient Microsoft Office user with Advanced Excel skills
- Bachelors degree in finance / management accounting or similar.
