Mining Technology Project Manager – JHB
The Project Manager will be practically and technically involved with the installation, commissioning maintaining and overseeing of Geological and Geotechnical Remote Face Mapping and Digital Data Collection Instrumentation and Software installed on drill rigs operating above and below ground in mines, on construction sites and related environments
This role requires a blend of technical expertise in geology/geotechnics, proficiency in digital tools, and strong project management skills.
The technical functions required will include:
Project Planning and Co-ordination:
Develop project timelines, scope, and objectives based on geological and geotechnical requirements.
Allocate resources for hardware and software deployment for remote mapping and data collection.
Instrumentation and Software Integration:
Oversee the setup, calibration, and integration of remote face mapping devices (e.g., photogrammetry equipment).
Manage the implementation of digital data collection systems, ensuring compatibility with geotechnical software.
Data Acquisition and Analysis:
Supervise data collection processes for accurate geological and geotechnical information.
Ensure the data is processed, analyzed, and interpreted using specialized software for decision-making.
Quality Control:
Implement standards and protocols to ensure high accuracy and reliability of data from mapping instruments.
Validate and cross-check results against project specifications.
Team Leadership and Training:
Provide technical guidance and training for team members on the use of mapping and data collection tools.
Co-ordinate between field engineers, geologists, and software specialists.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Resolve technical issues related to equipment or software performance.
Schedule and oversee the maintenance of digital instrumentation to ensure continuous functionality.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation of collected data and project milestones.
Present findings to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of geological insights and project progress.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols during field operations.
