Position Overview:
The Home Appliance Repairs Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, and air conditioners. The role involves customer service, troubleshooting, and ensuring that appliances are repaired efficiently and effectively, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostics and Repairs
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair home appliances (e.g., refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, ovens).
- Identify faulty components and replace or repair as needed.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical testing to ensure functionality.
- Preventative Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on appliances to prevent breakdowns.
- Advise customers on proper appliance care and maintenance tips.
- Customer Service
- Communicate with customers to understand appliance issues and provide updates on repair status.
- Provide professional and courteous service during on-site repairs.
- Offer clear explanations of work performed and costs involved.
- Technical Expertise
- Stay updated on new technologies and appliance models.
- Use specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and software for troubleshooting.
- Follow manufacturers' guidelines and industry standards for repairs.
- Safety Compliance
- Adhere to safety regulations when handling electrical components and appliances.
- Ensure the work area is clean and hazard-free.
- Properly dispose of old or damaged parts.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts used.
- Generate invoices and collect payments if required.
- Report recurring issues or design flaws to the relevant manufacturers.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / National Certificate + technical certificate for home appliances
- Valid Driver’s license
- Have 2 -5 years of experience in HA repairs
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Familiarity with appliance brands and their specific repair techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Work Environment:
- On-site repair services at customer locations.
