Duties & Responsibilities
- The job focuses on the design and development of railway construction projects. You will be required to develop civil construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and design standards.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other construction professionals to validate design feasibility and ensure alignment with client project specifications.
- Utilize working knowledge of CAD software and other engineering tools to refine construction project designs, including the creation of 3D models and animations using CAD, Civil 3D, and BIM software.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the viability of proposed designs and construction techniques.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project and contract documentation, encompassing design reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance of construction projects with statutory and regulatory requirements, while upholding safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
- Work collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary project team to ensure timely and budget-conscious completion of construction projects, adhering to defined quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost savings, presenting recommendations to senior project management team members.
- Conduct regular project team meetings, providing guidance and support to multi-disciplinary team members.
- Maintain transparent communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of project progress and any adjustments in project planning or milestones.
Skills & Experience
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
- At least ten years’ experience.
- Five of the ten years post professional registration (Pr Eng/ Pr Tech Eng) should be in planning, preparing/managing designs and delivery of civil infrastructure scope within multi-disciplinary projects including bulk earthworks, roads, drainage networks including Construction Management experience.
Qualification
BSc/BEng Degree or BTech (Civil).
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
