Job Description
As a Software Engineering Manager for the OM Bank Oracle Finance Team, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing our software engineering team. This position differs from the Engineering Lead in that the manager plays more of a role on the people management side working across teams whereas the Team Lead focuses more on technical delivery. This position is ideal for an experienced software engineer with strong leadership and managerial skills. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions, mentor and guide the engineering team, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong technical background with proficiency in relevant programming languages and technologies.
- Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and microservices architecture.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of applications and systems for assigned functional areas or business units.
- Document complex "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability.
- Develop data-driven analyses to surface new opportunities to differentiate and improve products and user experiences.
- Manage and deliver end-to-end digital programs and initiatives.
- Develop digital training and development programs to meet identified needs.
- Conceptualize elements of digital strategy and digital-enabled business change projects.
- Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Develop new methods, tools, and programs for quality assurance.
- Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Lead in detecting and analyzing security incidents and remediate any security gaps.
- Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team.
- Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs.
- Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team.
- Develop existing and new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
- Define and maintain a roadmap to facilitate application software development.
- Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures.
Skills
- Oracle ERP (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses, Cash Management, Tax, Assets, Procurement)
- Oracle SAAS/PAAS/IAAS and other Oracle Financial modules like EPM and Risk Management Cloud would be advantageous.
