Amazon is hiring for a VAT Manager, based in London, to focuson supporting our Digital and Devices business lines in a VATadvisory role. The successful candidate will engage and partnerwith the Digital and Devices business teams to support current andfuture offerings across EMEA regions, including expansions,restructurings, ESS obligations for cross-border supplies ofdigital services, operating guidelines, and day-to-day questions.
The candidate must be comfortable directly liaising withvarious business teams within the company, with an aim of gaining adeep understanding of the business vision and model in order todevelop clear tax solutions in support of the business, develop taxrequirements that clearly articulate such solutions, and drive theimplementation of the tax requirements.
Key jobresponsibilities
The ideal candidate will focus onindirect tax matters but will also have a base knowledge of directtax and transfer pricing issues and how these can impact thebusiness solution being articulated. The candidate will also workwith other members of the global tax department to formulate anddrive wider VAT/ indirect tax strategy, communicate current andfuture business plans, obtain cross-functional tax subject matterinput, and ensure coordination of cross-functional taxsolutions.
A day in the life
Thisposition is not directly involved in day-to-day VAT compliance butis responsible for delivering the advisory planning, real timecoordination, and communication of various tax-related projectsacross EMEA regions, including supporting engagements andnegotiations with external advisors, government bodies, taxauthorities, and auditors.

The Digital and Devices tax team supports andpartners with Amazon business lines including Alexa, Audible,Kindle, Amazon Games, Amazon Music, Prime Video, Amazon Studios,FireTV, Amazon Prime, Amazon Devices (Echo, Kindle, Ring), andTwitch. We also support Project Kuiper to launch low-earthsatellite broadband to unserved and underserved customers aroundthe world!
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS -Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience (e.g., Big 4 AccountingFirm, Law Firm or in-house tax experience), or an equivalentcombination of education and experience preferred.
-Fluent English language.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS - Recognised professional taxqualification, chartered accountant or relevant lawdegree
- International VAT experience in both practiceand industry (including domestic and cross-border supplies of bothB2C and B2B, goods and services)
- Detail-orientedindividual who takes ownership of projects, is organized, possessesexcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and is able todeliver on tight deadlines
- Highly motivated,hard-working, and able to work in a fast paced, informal, and oftenambiguous environment
- Able to clearly and conciselyinterface with all levels of management
- Able to analyzeand review statutes, regulations, and case law and then extractdata and make sound recommendations
- Effectiveinterpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oralcommunication skills
