LEAD HOUSEKEEPERStanmore, London, HA7The post holder will work as an integral part of the unit team and to be responsible for the coordination of all patient facilities services, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the Nurse in Charge/Clinical Service Manager/Hospital Director. The post holder will monitor quality standards, reporting deficiencies and recommending appropriate changes.The Lead housekeeper will enhance the patients’ experience by ensuring that the unit is presented and maintained in a way which maximises the patients’ sense of comfort, safety and well-being.The Lead housekeeper will work cooperatively with colleagues, as part of the team and perform additional duties as and when directed by the ward team, to enable staff to undertake direct patient care.Key SkillsYou will need good communication skills You will be organised and able to manage own workloadYou will be expected to organise stock using systems and communicating with adminYou will have good customer service skillsMaintaining the environmentMaintenance of equipmentInfection controlKey ResponsibilitiesTo develop and maintain systems for the upkeep of patients’ bed areas, ensuring that the patients’ lockers, tables and chairs are cleaned and free of litterTo develop systems to ensure that the ward is safe and tidy at all times, ensuring that spillages are dealt with quickly and safelyMaintain adequate levels of stores to ensure the smooth running of the wardEnsure the clinical environment is well presented, maintained and complies with Hospital cleanliness standards, to maximise the patients’ sense of comfort, safety and wellbeingCommunicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of multidisciplinary teamTo ensure systems are in place to ensure that all paper towels and soap for hand hygiene are replenished, contributing to the prevention of cross infection within clinical areasTo ensure the personal privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out housekeeping dutiesActively contribute to meetings which involve aspects of the ward housekeeper’s roleWhere changes have been agreed with direct inference on the ward housekeepers areas of responsibility to implement and monitor the changesTo identify deficiencies in standards and take appropriate action with the appropriate personnel.
