Cost Accountant
The Role & Key Responsibilities:
Due to the continued expansion of the South Africa office, the finance department is actively seeking to recruit an Accountant to join the team. The accountant will be responsible for a number of entities within the group and will work within the European finance team but will also communicate with other regional finance teams. The Accountant will report to the Cost Specialist.
- Assisting with the preparation, review and reconciliation of monthly accruals and prepayments
- Maintaining fixed asset registers
- Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
- Preparation and assistance in the monthly payroll process
- Preparation of cash flows and related analysis
- Ensuring relevant information for VAT returns is sent to the internal VAT department in a timely manner to facilitate on-time returns.
- Assisting in the month-end process leading to the submission of accurate monthly management accounts in a timely manner
- Assisting the Cost Specialist with the monthly analysis of variances.
- Preparation of reporting and reconciliations for submission to the group's Financial Planning & Analysis team
- Assisting with the annual audits and liaising with the Audit Specialist
- Assisting the cost specialist with any ad-hoc requests
- Discussing the monthly results with the Finance Reporting Manager, with emphasis on monthly movements.
Skills Required:
- An ability to work to and meet agreed deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure
- Competence in Excel, general IT, and accounting packages
- Experience within an accounts role would be ideal, but not necessary
