Our client is a leading multi-award-winning Integrated Infrastructure (WIIG) Sector seeking a skilled Assistant Resident Engineer to ensure that on-site construction adheres to the project's scope of work. Core Purpose:
Provide assistance in supervising contractors on-site, ensure project compliance with design specifications, attend site meetings, and support the Resident Engineer (RE). This role ensures the project meets its quality, schedule, and cost targets.
Key Performance Areas:
- Monitor Contractor progress on-site.
- Refer design/engineering queries to the RE.
- Ensure any issues with design specifications affecting future designs are reported to the RE.
- Apply Contract Conditions to the project.
- Communicate with the Contractors Site Agent regarding project aspects.
- Assist the RE in public communication via the Community Liaison Officer.
- Support the RE in site meetings with the Contractor and Client.
- Maintain comprehensive records of construction supervision, progress reports, and site data such as weather and labor details.
- Coordinate the updating of construction drawings and timely distribution to Contractors and site staff.
- Assist Survey and Quantity Surveyor/Cost Engineer to ensure timely survey work completion.
- Oversee the production of as-built drawings.
- Coordinate progress reports, financial reviews, and cash flow forecasts.
- Assist with Environmental Management of the Contractors work, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Address non-compliance issues with the Contractor as needed.
- Manage the Employers Environmental Representative, Health and Safety Officer, and Surveyor.
- Assist with contract interpretation and managing variations and claims.
Job Requirements:
- BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- ECSA registration as PrEng or currently in the registration process.
- Professional registration with SACPMP (PrCPM) is advantageous.
- 5-10 years of experience in civil construction projects.
- Proven experience managing civil construction projects.
