KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructor Duties:
- Design and deliver comprehensive training modules on UAV mechanical systems, including propulsion, airframes, avionics, and payloads.
- Conduct hands-on training sessions to teach personnel UAV assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
- Create and develop training materials, manuals, and presentations to support effective learning and skill acquisition.
Technician Duties: - Execute diagnostics, maintenance, and repair tasks on UAV mechanical components and systems.
- Perform inspections and assessments to ensure UAVs meet operational standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide insights on UAV performance and reliability, contributing to ongoing improvements.
Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain precise records of training activities, participant progress, and certification outcomes.
- Prepare detailed technical reports on UAV maintenance, repairs, and operational issues for review and analysis.
Safety and Compliance: - Follow safety protocols and guidelines during both training sessions and maintenance tasks.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance in UAV mechanical operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Bachelors degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10 years working with UAVs or similar aerospace systems.
- Strong understanding of UAV mechanical systems, including propulsion, airframes, and avionics.
- Prior experience in technical training roles preferred.
- Certification in UAV operations and maintenance is highly advantageous; Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CILT) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, flexibility to adapt to evolving technology, understanding of South African aviation regulations and compliance standards.
- Own transport required.
- Experience with ERP systems and logistics software; knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, CAA Part 145).
- Sound knowledge of UAV systems, components, and logistics challenges specific to the industry.
