Finance Accountant
Required for a reputable financial company based in East London
Responsibilities:
- Assist Head of Properties with operational and financial reporting, weekly, monthly, annually
- Management accounts
- Assist with VAT verifications, IT14SD’s and other SARS related tax queries
- Bookkeeping and Financial Administration, including preparation of monthly tenant invoices, processing on accounting software package (Xero preference), preparing journals and reconciling accounts
- Creditors Control: Processing and reconciling of all creditor’s payments
- Debtors Control: Generating invoices, capturing receipts and reconciliations on property management system (MDA preference). Liaising with defaulting tenants
- Assistance with preparation and capturing of annual budget
- Assistance with the preparation of Audit and interim Audit files and assist the auditors with queries and supporting documentation
- Fixed asset register – Maintain FAR
- Nedbank Loans – Update Nedbank bond schedule monthly
- Compliance – Maintain FICA control
- Ad hoc analysis and tasks as may be required from time to time which can include documenting business processes defined in meetings
- Other general accounting and administration tasks as and when required
- Financial reporting to Head of Properties and Group Finance
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience and knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting and administration procedures.
- Experience in preparation of audit files and liaison and assistance with annual audits.
- Experience in relevant software: a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Pastel, Xero (or another recognised accounting software package) and MDA Property Management.
- Proficient use of Excel, email and other related programs.
- Have strong numerical skills and aptitude.
- Have good Excel skills including basic formulae.
- Have good people skills in respect of both staff and clients – and be able and willing to effectively communicate verbally and electronically.
- Problem solver and ability to make suggestions and recommendations for improvements to existing systems.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and excellent attention to detail.
- Property management experience including lease management.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to use initiative and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage high volume of workflow efficiently and willingness to work overtime if and when required.
- Ability to communicate at first language English level.
