*Job Summary*
The Management Accountant will report directly to the Deputy COFA/Financial Controller, supporting the efficient functioning of the finance team. This role involves close collaboration with the outsourced Legal Cashiering, Management Accounting, and Payroll teams. This is a dynamic position that requires delivering timely and accurate information while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and meeting strict deadlines.
*Duties*
* Ensure accounting records are maintained in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
* Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, prepayments, accruals, deferred income journals, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
* Manage payroll and pension administration, working in conjunction with the HR manager and an outsourced payroll provider.
* Provide timely and insightful financial reports and analyses to support decision-making processes.
* Review and approve quarterly VAT returns, ensuring timely payment to HMRC.
* Prepare accurate year-end account information to facilitate the preparation of annual statutory accounts by an external accountant.
* Serve as the main point of contact for external accountants, particularly concerning the Solicitors Accounts Rules audit.
* Oversee regular cash flow management.
* Assist with budgeting and variance analysis.
* Supervise and support the outsourced Cashiers team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in service delivery.
* Maintain a flexible approach, taking on additional duties as required to support the smooth operation of the department.
*Experience*
* Solid understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and their application
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
