My client, an industry leading tier one civil engineering and construction firm are looking for a Quality Engineer to join their Rail division on a temporary contract in the North East of England.

Experience within the civil engineering industry is essential for this role, ideally coming from a main contractor background.
Candidate Responsibilites:
Proactively manage, coordinate and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) with Process Owners and document authors. Support the development and implementation of quality plans, inspection and test plans and quality control methods. Undertake quality audits.
Identify and manage project quality risks in a graded approach, working with stakeholders. Work with the Head of Systems & Quality to ensure adherence with the project and programme quality management strategy and approach. Develop and monitor quality performance indicators. Non-conformance management of the processes, procedures, work instructions and specifications. Facilitate improvement in quality standards. Maintain appropriate quality management governance and assist in administering the Quality Management Steering Group.
Understand BIM models and advise on capturing quality management data for reporting. Appreciate the importance and management of data quality. Provide support at workshops to advise on new technology initiatives.
Assist the Head of Systems & Quality in designing and developing quality management initiatives, policies and processes and controls. Develop Quality Alerts on best practices, audit non-conformances and lessons learnt. Assist the Lean Manager in identifying lessons learnt so the Alliance can benefit from shared learning.
Build strong relationships across the project and supply chain to achieve compliance. Represent my client on various external forums. Visit each project site to audit, inspect quality compliance and provide encouragement and advice.
Attend project and programme meetings as required
Candidate Requirements:
Highways Specification experience or Network Rail experience preferred
Internal Auditor preferred
PCQI preferred
Have a wide understanding of the industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods and legal requirements
Excellent working knowledge of industry techniques
Good knowledge of relevant SHEQ requirements
Be PC literate in Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat
Pro active, can do attitude
Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision
Ability to problem solve and analyse technical issues
High level of attention to detail
