- Responsible for the shift production performance of the relevant processes in the rolling mill and finishing end.
- To deliver planned production on shift as it relates to the area of responsibility, based on customer requirements, in line with the monthly production plan.
- Directs and coordinate the operations and process functions within the relevant areas of responsibility. Inherent in this is a strong leadership focus on the core values of safety and the customer.
- Overseas the production process in the areas of responsibility in accordance with the Quality Management system. The role requires a drive towards operational excellence in production methods and unit production costs through continuous improvement.
- Ensure the ability to recognize changes in the plant business imperatives that require adjustment of the production plan, and collaboration with other production managers in developing new forecasts.
- Ensure competency and efficiency of the workforce by developing their knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Directs and coordinates the production process on shift in the area of responsibility and functions within relevant areas of responsibility. Inherent in this is strong leadership focus on the core values of safety. Further, ensures a focus on minimizing the impacts of the relevant process on the environment.
- Ensure the ability to recognize changes in the plant business imperatives that require adjustment of the production plan, and collaboration with work teams.
- Contributes towards maximizing the economic value and long-term sustainability of the business.
- Prioritize and efficiently manage and coordinate production activities on shift in the area of responsibility.
- Ensure safe plant conditions for employees and to ensure all employees adhere to the standards and rules.
- Develop safety rules and execution thereof.
- Risks assessments and develop control measures.
- Decision making on shift as it relates to production activities.
- Capable to execute work in a heat, dust, and noise area.
- Ensure safe working practices and compliance with safety procedures and rules.
- Create and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with requirements.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations when required.
Qualification :
- National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in a technical discipline
Experience and Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy section mill
- Previous rolling mill manufacturing industry experience will be advantageous.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office and SAP)
- In a position to obtain a medical fitness certificate
- Knowledge of the SHERQ systems
- Willing to work shifts and additional hours if and when requires.
- Own transport for flexibility
