Maintenance Manager
As a Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for leading the site Maintenance function , providing both reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. You will be responsible for planning, creating, overseeing scheduling , and ensuring adherence and timely completion of work carried out by the maintenance team or contractors.
Ensure that the facilities, layout, and machinery used are in good condition and maintained. This includes preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns on mechanical, electrical, and all other equipment that fall under your scope of responsibility and qualification, as well as people management and budgetary/costing reporting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Strategy and Development:
- Overall responsibility for all functions/activities within the Maintenance department.
- Strategic business development: Evaluate challenges faced by the maintenance department and take action to mitigate risk and develop opportunities.
- Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and annual budget process.
- Project Management: Develop project plans, communicate changes and progress, and ensure completion of projects on time and within budget.
- Take ownership of all policies, guidelines, and associated documents from Health & Safety, ensuring effective implementation and management.
- Create and implement best practice maintenance management vision, strategy, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Develop and manage cost budgets.
- General and Task Management:
- Ensure your team reaches their daily and monthly maintenance targets.
- Effectively delegate maintenance issues to be resolved for each department and/or shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective work.
- Ensure COO, CFO, and Inventory Manager satisfaction.
- Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule where possible and ensure that full PPM is carried out, planning for missed maintenance activities and leading the team to deliver effectively.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department in conjunction with the OHS department.
- Audit and ensure compliance of any systems that fall under your responsibility.
- Optimize equipment according to standard procedures, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all KPIs.
- Staff and Relationship Management:
- Management of staff training and development.
- Management of staff performance.
- Management of staff satisfaction.
- Management of staff safety.
- Liaise and communicate within the maintenance department and suppliers to ensure an effective interface is maintained.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
- Liaise and communicate with suppliers and other service providers.
- Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards and company requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications:
- Matric Certificate (with maths literacy minimum).
- Additional related courses/qualifications will be advantageous.
- Red Seal Qualification will be advantageous.
Skills & Experience:
- 5 Years experience in General Facility Maintenance and Management of Engineering and Technical Professionals/teams in a large warehouse environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office .
- Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Management work experience within the automotive and warehousing environment.
- Experience with electrical systems such as: UPS, DB Boards, Fire Systems, Alarm Systems, HVAC (Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems), etc.
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, etc.
- Knowledge of MHE (Material Handling Equipment) machines.
- Experience in planning maintenance operations.
- Mechanical and Electronic troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
