Job Purpose
Based in our Cape Town office, you will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate technical competency, delivering mission-critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.
The principal responsibility is to check and ensure Ekco and client infrastructure are in working order and that any issues identified are resolved within SLAs with a sustainable resolution.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hyper-V Specialist to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Hyper-V Enterprise systems, designing, deploying, and managing Hyper-V clusters, and a strong background in System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). The Hyper-V Specialist will be responsible for managing VMs, infrastructure deployment, SAN storage, and utilizing various command-line interfaces (CLI/PowerShell).
Responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of any activity to the highest professional standards.
- Ensure resolutions are achieved within SLAs.
- Ensure a good relationship between the client and Ekco.
- Ensure all Infrastructure team checks (Infrastructure, Backup & DR, and Monitoring systems) are performed daily and all major issues are escalated within the Infrastructure team, escalating when required to senior engineers within the Cloud & Security team or to Service Desk engineers in time for SLAs to be met.
- Work as part of the Infrastructure Team to ensure security, reliability, and availability of all hosted services.
- Monitor and test backup data for potential issues, identify possible solutions, and work with other technical experts and/or the Cloud & Infrastructure team.
- Assist in maintaining client satisfaction within the Infrastructure team.
- Ensure the achievement of targeted KPIs.
- Ensure that the Knowledge base is updated with any problems/solutions found.
- Ensure that the Infrastructure Team Processes are followed.
- Adhere to all incident management/change processes in alignment with all activities and escalations.
- Responsible contact with relevant authorities for Information Security and the responsibility for Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability for ISO27001 for Junior Infrastructure engineer service provision.
- Design, deploy, and manage Hyper-V clusters.
- Integrate and manage SAN Storage solutions within the Hyper-V environment.
- Create, manage, and deploy SCVMM.
- Develop and manage automation processes within the Hyper-V environment.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of infrastructure systems.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for SAN environments.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in Microsoft and storage technologies.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes according to company standards.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience with SCVMM and Hyper-V cluster management.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying storage solutions with Hyper-V.
- Hyper-V Deployments, Setup, Configuration, and Failover Cluster Configurations.
- Proficient in PowerShell and scripting.
- 1+ years supporting a multi-site network environment to include LAN, WAN, VPN, Microsoft, SAN, and DR Systems.
- Ideally, previous experience of working for an IT service provider in a professional services environment.
- Able to gather relevant information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Experience with monitoring systems including Azure Arc, Azure Recovery Service Vault for DR and replication.
