Head of Finance - Cape Town, South Africa - Talent Genie
Our client seeks a Head of Finance to join their team. Reporting to the Financial Director and Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Finance will be responsible for providing strategic direction and financial management guidance to the organisation to achieve operational and strategic objectives and ensure sustainable financial performance. The Head of Finance will manage and assume leadership of the following functions: Financial Management, Finance Administration, Clerical, Debtors, Creditors, Accounting, Internal Controls, Risk and Tax Management.
- Monitor daily financial operations, ensure accurate and timely financial data flow to stakeholders and external regulators, and prepare annual reports.
- Meet regulatory and statutory bodies, develop and maintain efficient accounting policies and procedures, and provide financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, develop and maintain financial policies and procedures, and ensure sufficient systems and controls are in place to mitigate fraud and error.
- Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage interest rate risk, track large project expenditure, and provide regular feedback to the operations team on cost versus budgets.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures for municipal account payments and recoveries, and provide guidance on municipal valuation queries.
- Form good working relationships with heads of departments and external parties to build the client's brand and reputation.
- Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software, assist the CEO with special projects, and provide strategic input and expertise for due diligence and analysis of acquisitions or internal developments.
- Manage and develop the finance team, including periodic review of departmental structure, employment, and reorganisation, goal setting, and staff development and training.
- Demonstrable experience in managing and developing a team and a proven track record in the aforementioned performance areas.
- Registered Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification and a minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within the retail/property industry.
