Responsibilities
- Help to develop and improve the financial capabilities of the company
- Provide support and cover for the Lettings Accounts department
- Produce the weekly and monthly management information
- Produce the monthly management accounts and contribute to the monthly and quarterly Board packs
- Process year end accounting procedures
- Budgeting and forecasting both short and longer term
- Independently run sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll and expenses
- Ensure all VAT, Tax, PAYE and Pension filings and payments are made accurately and on time
- Run the annual processes: P60, P11D, financial audit, etc.
- Post all entries on to the finance system and run regular Bank reconciliations
- Cashflow management, analysis and forecasting on a weekly basis
- Act as point of contact for internal colleagues and external stakeholders for all Finance queries
- Proactively flag issues or concerns to management
- Manage external relationships including accountants, banks, legal, regulatory bodies
- Manage suppliers, negotiate payment terms and ensure payments are made on time
- Produce all company reporting
- Work closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team including providing commercial insight, analysis, timely MI, and ad hoc analysis
Special projects
- Support the CEO and SMT including performance analysis, board pack collation and presentation, review of incentive plans, business cases on major investment decisions and any other matters that arise
- Critically review all current reporting needs in the business, design solutions to current challenges and to unlock untapped potential
- Upgrade systems and processes across the finance department
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with previous experience within a Finance Controller or similar role
- Familiar with UK accounting, financial and regulatory requirements
- Competent on accounting software (Zero)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Great attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and able to contribute to the SMT
- Works well under pressure
- Previous experience of staff management is preferable
- Experience of working as part of a senior management team is preferable
