Maitre D / Front of House required for a reputable hospitality company based in East London , Eastern Cape
Requirements:
- Good understanding of the hospitality industry
- Supervising the waiting staff
- Welcoming guests in a friendly manner
- Taking reservations
- Overseeing the service of food and beverages to guests
- Assigning tables
- Able to work shifts (day, night, Sundays, public holidays)
Responsibilities:
- Managing Reservations: Taking and organizing reservations, ensuring the restaurant is appropriately booked for each service period.
- Greeting Guests: Welcoming guests as they arrive, ensuring they feel valued and attended to from the moment they enter.
- Seating Arrangements: Assigning tables to guests according to their preferences, ensuring efficient use of seating capacity.
- Coordinating with Service Staff: Liaising between the kitchen and the dining room staff to ensure smooth communication and service flow.
- Handling Guest Concerns: Addressing any issues or special requests from guests to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Maintaining Dining Room Atmosphere: Overseeing the ambiance and cleanliness of the dining area, ensuring it meets the restaurant's standards.
- Training and Supervision: Training new host/hostess staff on procedures and protocols, and supervising their performance during service.
- Managing Wait Times: Ensuring guests are seated promptly and efficiently during busy periods, managing waitlists effectively.
- Up-selling and Promotion: Recommending specials, promotions, or additional services to guests to enhance their experience and increase revenue.
- Handling Payments: Occasionally processing payments and ensuring accurate billings
