Introduction
Sales Representative is required to be responsible for maintaining the current customer base and obtaining new business, plan and execute the marketing and sales activities for the Gauteng region. This person will provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer to boost top-line sales growth, customer acquisition levels and profitability in order to achieve the gross profit target as designed in the annual budget of the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas:
- Market planning and budgeting
- Selling of broader product range as requested
- Process performance vs budget
- Increase revenue
- Customer Liaison and feedback to Planning/Production
- Forecasting
- Negotiate prices and payment terms
- Debtors collection
Sales Representative Responsibilities:
- Achieving market plans, targets and budget for the Gauteng region
- Promote customer focused culture, expand the market base in the region and ensure correct documentation is used in all deliveries to the customer
- Performing cost-benefit analyses of existing and potential customers
- Ensure all accounts are paid in time as per payment terms and recons are up to date
- Monitor industry trends in order to identify emerging markets and develop plans to utilize those markets
- Maintain contact lists and follow up with customers to continue relationships
- Accurately implement pricing, negotiate terms and prepare sales agreements
- Assist the Technical Director with collecting and delivering samples for trials and offer product knowledge
- Follow up on customer acceptance forms for all trial samples
- Regular communication with Production, Warehouse and Sales Coordinators to discuss outstanding orders
- Plan and follow up on daily deliveries with Logistics Manager and Sales Coordinators
- Investigate and follow up on customer complaints
- Obtain forecast from customers for future deliveries
- Customer visit as per agreed schedule with customers
- Input daily deliveries on credit check schedule with correct order numbers and pricing
- Ensure that all credit notes are raised, signed off and processed timeously
- Regular communication with new and existing customers to follow up and discuss new requirements
- Discuss price increase with customers and ensure letters are distributed and signed off in time
- Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments
General:
- Assist to create a comprehensive Sales & Marketing Strategy
- Promote team effort to build a strong working relationship amongst staff
- Accountability for implementing ISO 9001: 2000 Procedures and Health, Safety and Environmental Management guidelines
Ad hoc:
- Providing full back up functions to the National Sales Manager
- The employee will be required from time to time to perform other job functions based on company requirements
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge and understanding of the plastics industry and market would be advantageous
- Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads
- Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office, including Excel, Word, databases and Outlook
- Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads
- Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator
- Self starter and independent worker – ability to manage time effectively to ensure optimum productivity
- Ability to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts or even a business, with particular focus on achieving genuine sales development
- Ability to travel, Drivers licence and own vehicle
