Job Description:
- Material Selection : Choosing the right composite materials for different parts of the yacht, ensuring they meet performance, weight, and safety standards.
- Production Management : Overseeing the production of composite parts, including hulls, decks, superstructures, and other components. Ensuring manufacturing techniques (like molding, lamination, and curing) are carried out properly.
- Team Supervision : Managing a team of engineers, technicians, and workers involved in the design, production, and assembly of composite parts. This includes training, scheduling, and coordinating tasks.
- Quality Control : Ensuring that all composite components meet the required quality standards, performing inspections, and addressing any defects or issues that arise during production.
- Research and Development : Innovating and improving the use of composite materials, working on new technologies, and collaborating with design and engineering teams to push the limits of what’s possible in yacht construction.
- Cost and Efficiency Optimization : Working to improve production efficiency and reduce material waste, which is key in keeping costs down while maintaining high standards.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensuring that the use of composite materials complies with international safety regulations and certifications specific to the maritime industry.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a boatbuilding environment
- Minimum 5 years managerial experience
- 3 year degree / diploma or related qualifications
- The applicant is recommended to hold SA citizenship, permanent residency or another form of accepted work visa.
