Property Trading Underwriter - Manchester (Hybrid Working)
We are very pleased to be working with our client who is a relatively young, innovative and fast-growing Lloyd’s Underwriting Syndicate, seeking a Regional Property Trading Underwriter for their new offices in Manchester city centre.
They are a proactive insurer, and the team is relatively small at this moment in time, making it an ideal time to join the business as you will have massive scope to progress within the company as it grows.
You will be provided with a great deal of autonomy and authority to develop and retain business opportunities. They encourage visibility in the market where you will be working closely with the Underwriting Manager.
Since the office started trading outside of London, they have achieved excellent results, which is why they now need to appoint an additional underwriter to further support this continued growth.
They support hybrid home and office working.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- New business and renewal underwriting of risks within the team’s appetite.
- Liaise and build relationships with brokers on a regional and national basis.
- Support the Head of UK and European Property with portfolio KPI analysis.
- Clearly communicate underwriting decisions to the Head of UK & European Property and Property CUO.
- Attend client meetings.
They are hoping to hear from candidates with a working knowledge and experience of UK Commercial Property Insurance who are interested in joining a dynamic and growing Lloyd’s syndicate.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ideally at least 5 years’ Property Underwriting experience (although could consider less) handling SME and Mid-Market business.
- The ability to demonstrate your technical knowledge, including identification and evaluation of risk and pricing a risk accordingly.
- Track record of developing independent retail, wholesale, and national broker relationships to generate, progress, and close new business.
- Completion of or progression towards a professional qualification.
- Ability to operate well under pressure and prioritize workload.
- Strong numerical and communication skills.
- Be self-motivated and driven to succeed.
This is quite a unique underwriting opportunity, and you would receive an attractive basic salary dependent on experience between £30k to £55k, along with a non-contributory pension of 12%, private medical cover, bonus, DIS, and other staff benefits.
