Position: Head of Legal and Compliance - FTC
Job Overview:
The Head of Legal and Compliance is a critical executive role responsible for overseeing the company's legal and regulatory obligations in the gambling and betting industry. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of gambling laws, corporate governance, litigation, transactional work, and customer relations. The ideal candidate will ensure that the company operates within the law, advises on legal and compliance matters, resolves complex issues proactively, and manages relationships with gambling boards and other regulatory bodies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance & Corporate Governance: Ensure all operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Oversee the preparation of corporate governance reports and compliance matters with various gambling boards.
- Litigation & Legal Oversight: Stay updated on all litigation matters, providing feedback and managing the company's legal stance in management or board meetings.
- Transaction and Project Oversight: Conduct legal reviews and provide oversight on all transactions and special projects, including legislation changes, litigation matters, and business relocations.
- Customer Complaints: Handle complex customer complaints and provide input on most disputes.
- Service Provider Management: Manage relationships with law firms and other service providers, ensuring performance and billing align with company expectations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with gambling boards, including regular check-ins and ensuring compliance with all regulatory demands.
- Team Leadership: Oversee the work of junior team members, ensuring tasks such as contract drafting, compliance audits, litigation management, board meeting preparations, and regulatory filings are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB), with a Master’s degree or a professional certification in Compliance being highly desirable.
- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 12 years Post Qualification Experience.
- Experience in the gambling, betting, or casino industry, particularly in a legal and compliance capacity advantageous.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-task with attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of gambling regulations, corporate governance, and transactional law.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues, resolve conflicts, and manage relationships with regulatory bodies.
