Purpose of the Job:
The Utility 2 Operator is responsible for ensuring high-quality customer service to both internal and external customers while operating and maintaining advanced machinery.
Minimum Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- N4 or equivalent trade/artisan qualification
Experience:
- 5 years in an automated factory environment
- Proficient in operating hi-tech machinery
- Comprehensive knowledge of processes and QMS systems
Key Responsibilities:
Machinery Management:
- Set up, operate, and maintain various automatic and semi-automatic machines, including plate enveloping, COS, Shorts Testing, TTP welding, heat sealing, leak testing, and date coding machines, according to supplier manuals.
- Ensure production quality meets standards and production rates.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment and extraction systems.
Administration and Record Keeping:
- Complete job cards, production logs, and quality control data as per assembly work instructions.
Communication:
- Engage with suppliers, customers, and internal teams through written and oral communication.
Quality Assurance:
- Uphold professional standards and halt any processes that do not meet quality requirements.
Auxiliary Activities:
- Support other departments and participate in safety audits as needed.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with the OSH Act and AutoX processes.
- Technical proficiency in machinery operations.
