Hire Resolve's Client is seeking a qualified and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, visitors, and contractors on our premises. This role involves implementing and monitoring health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to staff members to prevent accidents and injuries. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local laws and regulations Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify and address potential hazards Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence Provide health and safety training and guidance to employees, managers, and contractors Maintain health and safety records and documentation, including incident reports, training records, and safety data sheets Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics to management Stay informed about current health and safety trends, best practices, and legal requirements Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Health and Safety Officer or a similar role Professional certification in health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred Knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations in South Africa Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure Attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving health and safety practices
