Purpose of the position:
The Chief Accountant: Treasury and Creditors is responsible for overseeing NWK's financial operations within accounts payable, cashbooks and cashiers, further to ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes within the department. This role includes driving performance, enhancing systems and capacity, and maintaining strong internal controls. Additionally, the chief accountant plays a key role in evaluating creditor performance and ensuring compliance with SARS and other regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Creditors responsibilities:
- Oversee creditor performance, ensuring timely, high-quality service. Evaluate new creditors, conduct partner vetting, and assess risks for informed supplier partnerships.
- Continuously improve financial processes, enhancing system capacity and accuracy to handle increasing transaction volumes with innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, particularly SARS regulations, with diligent documentation and reporting.
- Support inventory procurement through supplier management, enabling NWK to reliably deliver high-quality products and services.
- Mentor and guide the team responsible for payable accounts, offering expertise on complex financial matters and fostering professional development.
Treasury responsibilities:
- Support cash flow monitoring and management to ensure NWKs liquidity and financial stability.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, contributing to NWKs financial planning and strategic objectives.
- Contributed to the financial analysis to inform decisions that align with NWKs long-term goals and vision.
General responsibilities:
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial assets, focusing on process integrity and transparency.
- Collaborate across departments, providing financial insights that drive strategic decision-making and operational success at NWK.
- Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA(SA) or equivalent qualification preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, SARS regulations, and tax compliance.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Experience in financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, and auditing.
- Proven experience in improving financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and build capacity
