We are hiring: JET Executive Manager: Research & Data Ecosystems
JET Education Services seeks to appoint an Executive Manager for the Research and Data Ecosystems unit.
Location: Johannesburg
The Executive Manager manages the implementation of research-based projects in the education and skills development sector, including a strong focus on data and ecosystems. The main tasks include oversight, leadership, and contribution to research and data ecosystem initiatives, organisation development (implementing the JET business plan, implementing decisions made at the board level), business development, line management of staff, and financial management. The incumbent will report to the CEO.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Masters or Doctorate in Education or related field
- 10-15 years’ experience including large scale research management
- Expertise in data ecosystems and related fields
- Academic track record, including peer reviewed journal articles, chapters and/or books
- International research network
- Senior management experience in the development sector
- Oversight and management of R&DE division
- High level stakeholder liaison
- Implementation of programmes and projects
- Financial management
- Computer literacy
- Management skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Research:
- Oversee JET’s research portfolio
- Oversight, leadership and contribution to research and data ecosystem initiatives
- Conduct own research
- Manage and get involved in the delivery of education, research and/or development projects
- Lead the design of research and education development projects
- Provide technical assistance and advice to clients and projects
Organisational Development:
- Contribute to the JET business plan that is in line with strategy
- Implement JET’s strategic and business plans
- Contribute towards team leadership
- Promotion of good working environment
- Attend JMC and report on division activities
- Prepares quarterly Board reports
Business Development:
- Ensure positive marketing of the organisation to internal and external clients.
- Develop and assist with proposal writing (reactive and proactive work) as required
- Ensure that the Division has sufficient project work to meet the set recoveries for the year
Line Management of Staff:
- Management of the human resources elements of the staff in the R&DE Division
- Research guidance and support to staff in the Division and JET overall
- Ensures that each staff member within the Division has a reasonable workload
- Monitors staff’s performance regularly
- Puts remedial steps and development plans in place where appropriate
- Records the above within JET’s electronic performance management system
- Manages the development of staff
Financial Management:
- Manages the implementation of the business model thus ensuring that staff bill for their time according to the budget and deliverables and making sure that the Divisions meet their financial targets.
- Plans, reports and accounts for the proportion of recoveries allocated to the Division
- Ensures compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Manages expenditure and controls the financial position of the Division
- Manages project budgets - ±RM 30 per annum
Salary: R1 103 980 - R 1 359 266.65 CTC per annum
