The Campus Support Officer will deliver the day-to-day operations within the Campus Support team, ensuring the highest standards of service in providing professional, clean, safe and accessible buildings and space for the university community. You will be a critical link between the service, schools, departments, and the management team. This link will ensure you respond to daily operational issues in a coherent way.
The post holder will have experience of the delivery facilities services within a large educational environment. You will have excellent organisational skills with experience and the proven ability to provide excellent customer service combined with a drive for continuous improvement. You will have an ability to assess and diffuse difficult situations in a calm and professional manner. Good written and verbal communication skills are key as you will deal with a wide range of staff and student across the University Campus.
Reporting to the Campus Services Management team, the role of Campus Support Officer will be extremely varied with different challenges and demands each day.
Job Purpose:
The Campus Support Officer will deliver the day-to-day operations within the Campus Support team, ensuring the highest standards of service in providing professional, clean, safe and accessible buildings and space for the university community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To maintain first class cleanliness and appearance of university buildings and campus areas, internally and externally including the removal of graffiti, posters, litter and other debris.
2. To comply with all Estates and Facilities policies and regulations and to carry out regular routine checks of premises and equipment in conjunction with the University Health & Safety office. To report any risks or hazards and complete essential documentation as necessary.
3. To report any faults or property damage and monitor them through to completion.
4. To monitor the daily deployment and activities of cleaning staff and carry out essential cleaning tasks when assigned staff are absent, with particular emphasis on maintaining the appearance and hygienic cleanliness of toilets, rest rooms kitchens, entrance foyers and communal areas.
5. To carry out furniture and room rearrangements in conjunction with the requirements of the University and building users or as directed by an Assistant Campus Support Manager.
6. To deliver, receive and redistribute stores, stationery, mail, parcels and other goods across all University locations and buildings.
7. To manage the waste system within the University to ensure correct segregation and management of the waste system, this includes waste removal of bulky items using the University vehicles.
8. To provide a grounds maintenance service to the University to ensure all open space is kept to a high standard which includes the use of grounds maintenance equipment.
9. To respond to emails and telephone requests and use the radio system to advise other colleagues of requests.
10. To work in shifts, including weekend work as per weekly rotas within a number of teams headed by an Assistant Campus Support Manager across all University sites.
11. To provide a VIP driving service to the University ensuring high standards at all times and adhering to the driving procedure for Campus Support.
12. In the event of an accident or injury to a student, member of staff, visitor or member of the public, provide immediate help and/or First Aid, seek additional help and provide support as necessary until the arrival of appropriate assistance.
13. To provide Fire Warden cover for university events. To assist building fire wardens and others, including the emergency services, to react to alarms and evacuate buildings. To provide immediate response and assistance to other Campus Support Officers, students, staff, visitors and members of the public as appropriate in the event of incidents occurring at the University.
14. To complete all essential documentation (e.g., Logbooks) and submit reports as required on completion of each period of duty.
15. To undertake additional seasonal tasks and activities such as gritting/snow clearing as directed by the Assistant Campus Support Managers.
16. To undertake any other reasonable additional tasks at any of the University locations as directed by the Assistant Campus Support Manager.
WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK BETWEEN THE NEW DAPHNE STEEL BUILDING (TOP OF LEEDS ROAD) AND THE MAIN CAMPUS AND TRAVEL BETWEEN THESE 2 SITES ON FOOT
THIS IS A 3 MONTH CONTRACT UNTIL THE END OF JAN 2025, SO FULL COMITTMENT FOR THE THAT WHOLE PERIOD IS REQUIRED
