The Plant Cleaner will be responsible for cleaning and taking care of our facilities and carry out cleaning and maintenance duties, the role reports to the Cleaning Supervisor. Your overall job responsibility will include amongst others removing the wax from pumps and dispose in correct units, wash areas with hot condensate or HP Cleaning sweeping etc. as and when instructed.
Task and Responsibilities:
To attend to the morning Safety Toolbox, Talk and participate in the Safety discussions.
Walk the unit that he is designated to and identify any Priority 1 jobs – Spills, pick up papers, bottles, sample tins, rags, buckets etc. Dispose in the correct bins.
Report any “P1” s to the Sasol Control Room.
Remove the wax from the pumps and dispose of the wax in the correct units.
Ensure that the pipe racks are always clean.
Remove the weeds in the unit that he is responsible for.
Sweep his plant on a regular basis.
Identify areas to be washed.
Wash the area with hot condensate or HP cleaning.
Complete a Task Risk Assessment before he uses hot condensate or HP Cleaning.
Select the correct hoses and couplings and connect to a utility point.
Inspect the hoses, couplings, and the lance before opening the valves.
Communicate with the control room, before using hot condensate.
Understand the dangers associated with the plant conditions.
Do a full inspection on the HP machine by himself.
Identify faulty equipment and report to his supervisor.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Able to read and write in English.
Ability to work at heights.
Able to work overtime as and when requested by the client.
Comply with time keeping, at all times.
Complete an BBS observation on time.
Comply with all the safety regulations and KUE’s set out by the client
Comply with all the PPE requirements and maintain his PPE in a good condition.
Be willing to assist in other units if requested to do so.
Clean and maintain the plant offices – U35 &U89
Ensure that the male toilets are hygienically clean. – U89
Ensure that the toilets always fully stocked with toilet paper/ hand towel. - U89
Fill the soap dispensers regularly. – U89
Wash and mop the floors.
Spray all the door handles, taps, toilet handles, shower doors and the toilet seat with anti-bacterial disinfectant.
Clean all the windows – ablution facility, cold room, and office – U89/U35
Place P-Mats in the urinals. – U89
Fill the HP machines with diesel if requested so.
Understanding of the MSDS’s.
Able to work in different disciplines.
Always communicate with his supervisor.
Report deviations and complete notifications.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10/12
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently for following instructions.
Experience of working with basic hand and power tools will be an advantage.
Medical fitness certificate
