The Nature Conservation Manager will be responsible for the management of Islington's Ecology Centre, three Local Nature Reserves and the Nature Conservation Team. The Ecology Centre is a busy and successful community resource, delivering a high-quality programme of environmental education, events and volunteering as well as providing a venue for meetings and community activities. We are seeking someone with experience managing nature reserves or parks sites.
Description
The Nature Conservation Manager (PO3) will spearhead initiatives focused on preserving and enhancing the natural environment. This crucial role involves the development and implementation of strategic programs aimed at protecting biodiversity, habitats, and ecosystems. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government bodies, non-profit organizations, and community groups, to foster partnerships that promote sustainable land use and conservation efforts. The Nature Conservation Manager will also be responsible for overseeing field projects, ensuring they align with best practices and regulatory requirements. In addition, this position requires the manager to lead a team of conservation specialists and volunteers, providing guidance and support to drive impactful outcomes. Public education and outreach will be key components, as the manager will seek to raise awareness about conservation issues and engage the community in proactive measures. Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive nature conservation strategies.
Collaborate with stakeholders to create partnerships for conservation initiatives.
Manage and monitor field projects to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Lead and mentor a team of conservation specialists and volunteers.
Conduct research and surveys to assess habitat conditions and wildlife populations.

Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding agencies.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, conservation biology, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in conservation management or similar roles.
Strong leadership skills with experience in team management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in project management and strategic planning.
Knowledge of relevant environmental laws and regulations.
Ability to work in diverse environments and adapt to changing conditions.
