Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and strategic Financial Manager to develop, implement, oversee and optimize our financial operations within the fashion retail sector. This individual would have to work hand-in-hand with Operations and Planning to achieve the desired outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of financial management principles and retail industry dynamics. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a passion for business, and the ability to drive financial performance and growth.
Periodic travel to Johannesburg is required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and reports. Analyse financial performance to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Cost Management: Monitor and control expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints. Implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements.
• Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to senior management. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strategic Support: Collaborate with the operations and planning departments to develop integrative processes to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes. Assist in strategic planning and financial modelling.
• Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow projections, manage working capital, and ensure optimal liquidity levels.
• Inventory Management: Analyse inventory turnover, manage stock levels, and optimize inventory investment within the unique consignment model environment.
• Team Leadership and participation: Supervise and mentor the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Liaison : Ability to solve problems and communicate solutions effectively
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate challenges and implement appropriate solutions. Pro-actively schedules reporting back to Directors.
• Independent: Ability to work independently and takes responsibility of tasks at hand.
• Lease Agreements: Knowledge and experience in dealing with lease agreements with large centres is a distinct advantage.
• Legal insight: Ability to interpret and assist in developing models to ensure limitation of legal liability.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of recent financial management experience in fashion retail or a related retail environment.
• Skills: Proficient in financial software and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling and forecasting.
• Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
