In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for CV Project Engineer in the Technical Operations Department.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum 10 years practical experience in Automotive Component Engineering, with at least 5 years in the applicable field of Engineering.
B.Tech or B.Eng Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
At least 3 years practical experience in commercial vehicle component engineering and body building.
Computer literacy; MS Office (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint,Outlook), CAD and CAE (e.g. FEA).
Problem solving skills
Basic understanding of Specification and Release terms and systems.
Mechanical Engineering Design Experience
Field Service Experience – Working with Customers, Dealers, Suppliers, Body Builders and Aftermarket Installers.
Drivers License - Minimum Code EC with PrDP required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Change Management
Understand the impact of Change Request/Decision Notice (CR/DN) and provide input into Product Program Submission (PPS) and Part Add & Delete sheets.
Create Component Timing Charts (CTC’s) for all changes, comprehending all Component Sourcing Team requirements.
Create Component/System level Analysis Development and Validation (ADV) Plan
Detailed evaluation of Request for Engineering Change (REC) & Request for Deviation (RED) prior to approval.
Provide the Change Approval Board (CAB) for Engineering Changes (EWO/ECS) with accurate lead time and costing.
Provide Supplier and local unique design drawing (3D/2D) data, for uploading into Teamcentre.
Component Development
Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)for all new unique developments.
Recommend final direction of solutions based on cost, mass, timing, design for assembly, variation, and best performance that meets and/or exceeds overall program imperatives.
Suggest and implement Component/Product cost reduction initiatives.
Supplier Selection
Provide technical input to support supplier selection process.
Pre-production Build
Create, Approve, Release and Revise Product Assembly Documents (PAD’s).
Respond to any queries arising from the Engineering Parts List (EPL) verification during the IV (Integration Vehicle) build process.
Component Certification & Validation
Generate evaluation reports with conclusions based on the supporting data.
Obtain the necessary component/system level certification to comply with the National Regulating Authority.
Product Issue Resolution
Actively participate in Internal and External Product Investigations, taking a leading role when the root cause is established to be design related.
Implement a formal Problem Resolution process to resolve issues and implement solutions.
Technical Guidance
Provide technical guidance to the following areas:
- Materials Management (Manage breakpoints of new components; advice on alternatives in the case of material shortages)
- Manufacturing (Issue resolution; Launch support)
- Service Engineering (Issue resolution)
- Vehicle Sales and Marketing (Information on vehicle specifications and function; launch support)
- Mentor new recruits and Graduates in Training (GIT’s)
Administration
Review and improve internal work instructions (Business Management System).
Perform other ad hoc tasks and activities as requested by management in line with business requirements
Internal and Fleet Technical Assistance
Assist Fleet Sales team with most suitable application solutions to support fleet customer requirements.
